100 calorie snack packs are probably the most irritatingly successful idea any company has ever come up with. Not only do you get less product, you get charged substantially more. The amount of packaging used (and therefore waste created) is also increased.
But here’s the zinger. A study by Arizona State University/University of Kentucky proved 100 calorie snacks actually make you eat more: “…dieters actually eat more food when the portions are presented in small sizes and packages.”
Bottom line: 100 calorie snacks are bad for you, your wallet and the environment. Don’t be fooled — avoid them and eat an apple instead.
